Rewinder: What We're Playing This Week (June 8, 2025)
Switching it up.

Our third edition of 'What We're Playing' is here, where we each discuss what we've playing more casually.
We're a little late this week to posting our weekly segment, but when we're full swing into conference season, can you truly blame us? With Nintendo Switch 2 also out now alongside that, it's been a busy one and that isn't slowing down just yet.
With that out of the way, here's what we've found time to play among all the chaos.
Henry

My week's been a juggling act between [REDACTED] for UploadVR and new Switch 2 games. Like everyone else, I jumped straight into Mario Kart World, but I've also been taking my time with the other launch games. Thankfully, I'd been saving some eShop cards I'd been gifted months ago for this.
Fast Fusion is easily my other highlight, and it's wonderful to see Shin'en's series still going after buying the original WiiWare game forever ago. Puyo Puyo Tetris 2S, still a great game, though I'm surprised it's a brand new edition over an upgrade. Yakuza 0, I've yet to try, but I loved the original game on PS4. Playing Sonic x Shadow Generations portably is fantastic, too.
My only real negative is Welcome Tour, I don't wanna just repeat what everyone else is saying, but yeah, this really should've been a pack-in game. It's also rather dull. Otherwise, I'm still making slow progress with Clair Obscur: Expedition 33. At this point, I'm waiting for a week off so I can truly sink a lot of time into it.

Alongside Fantasy Life i: The Girl Who Steals Time (review coming soon), I've also been playing Dragon is Dead. Which is a fair bit of fun, and it's just come out of early access.

So what have I been playing? A lot is the answer, and I am currently working on a field report for the site, but here's the highlights (and a lowlight).
- Mario Kart World - I've seen the credits already, somehow. Daisy has cute outfits. GOTY.
- Tetris Effect: Connected - Finally a video game that will make me cry contemplating the beauty of human existence on a bus.
- Fast Fusion - Henry is the resident Fast-fan here at Rewinder, but I gotta say, he was totally right, these games rule.
- Kunitsu-Gami: Path of the Goddess - HEY, NONE OF YOU PLAYED THIS LAST YEAR WHEN IT CAME OUT ON OTHER PLATFORMS BUT YOU BETTER PLAY IT NOW. IT RULES.
- Super Mario: Bowser's Fury - I procrastinated for years and never played the new content in Mario 3D World, so now I basically have a new 3D Mario to play. VINDICATION!
- Yakuza 0 Director's Cut - It's the definitive version of one of the best games of time. Just avoid the new four-player mode.
- Arcade Archives 2 Ridge Racer - Go check out my BlueSky thread on this if you want details, but do not spend your hard-earned money on this barebones emulation. There are very easy ways to play much better versions of Ridge Racer.

This weekend I'm playing Death Stranding 2, which is all I can say about that. I've also been tinkering about with the Switch 2, mostly on Mario Kart.
Are you playing anything this weekend? Let us know in the comments below.
