Rewinder: What We're Playing This Week (June 28, 2025)

Edition #6 of 'What We're Playing' is live, so what have we been up to?

Frankly, it's been a surprisingly heavy week of racing coverage over at Rewinder. Between the older classics like Ridge Racer or F-Zero GX to newer titles such as Fast Fusion, there's been a lot going on. That's before getting into Death Stranding 2, which we discussed in-depth on our recent podcast while Scott reviewed it elsewhere.

With that said, here's what the team's been playing this week.

This week's seen me going through more than usual after taking time off work, and I'm back on the VR fitness kick with Beat Saber and FitXR. I've also sunk plenty of hours into F-Zero GX, while other highlights include Augmented Empire on Steam, A Dream About Parking Lots, and more Super Mario Odyssey. Can't forget Splatoon 3, either.

Otherwise, I also bought Deltarune and Kunitsu-Gami: Path of the Goddess for my Switch 2, but I've not started either yet.

I've mostly been playing Cyberpunk 2077 still, honestly. It's just really got its dystopian hooks in me because while it's not a lot, you can affect some positive change here and there. I've also been enjoying the latest Genshin Impact update too, although I, like many others, am mostly excited about the 6.0 patch more than anything. Other than that, I've been traumatising player characters in D&D.

I started playing Death Stranding 2 this week and had strong feelings about it that you can see in our latest podcast. I also started playing Persona 5: The Phantom X and have even stronger feelings about that, which you should be able to read early next week.

Both these games left me feeling impassioned, except one was because of a deliberate (and pretty striking) story moment, which as a play more of the game I am starting to come around on a bit. The other was due to a mechanic which made the very concept of video gaming as a hobby something that made me legitimately angry.

Anyway, look forward to my thoughts on P5X!

Scott

This weekend I'm still playing Cyberpunk 2077, and I'm going to dig into Pikmin 3 deluxe now that I've finished 2.
