Rewinder: What We're Playing This Week (July 6, 2025)

New week, new edition of What We're Playing is here.

This week's been a bit quieter across Rewinder, though we still found time for a few stories. It's another entry with some familiar games showing up on our picks, and here's what the team's been playing this week.

Henry

Due to some personal stuff and returning to UploadVR, I've had less time for games this week but still got a few in. I've continued my VR fitness kick with Starwave and FitXR, tried HexWind, and jumped back onto A Boy and His Blob once more. Elsewhere, I finally completed my Super Mario Odyssey replay, so I'm now ready for Donkey Kong Bananza.

Jason

I bought a Switch 2, so I've been mostly playing Mario Kart World. I blitzed through the 50CC stuff to get a feel for it all, and I'm loving the ability to hop onto walls and grind up dinosaurs too. It's a lot of fun, and I'm hoping I can get some games in with my kids over the weekend.

Lex

I've somehow sunk 27 hours in Death Stranding 2 in less than the week despite the fact that I am slowly realising I don't really like it. I am glad it exists and I am glad Kojima get money to fund shit as weird as this. I just do not think it is an especially good game. Hopefully, once I roll credits I write something about it for Rewinder.

Scott

After saying I've been playing it for the last few weekends and then not playing it, I am actually going to play Cyberpunk 2077 this weekend. After I finish Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze. Maybe a bit of Ape Escape too.
