Rewinder: What We're Playing This Week (August 2, 2025)

Another wide mix.

Rewinder: What We're Playing This Week (August 2, 2025)

We're back with our latest instalment of What We're Playing.

This weekend is a bit different compared to usual, as we're about to go live on Twitch for an extended session of Super Mario Party Jamboree at 5pm BST (9am PT). Make sure to tune in as Lex, Scott, and Henry compete against each other for a Rewinder fundraiser. Otherwise, here's what the team's been up to.

Henry

This week's not been particularly extensive with new games. I finished Dear Me, I Was... and I hope to have a review live for this soon. Otherwise, it's mostly been more Donkey Kong Bananza alongside some Super Mario Party Jamboree and [redacted] for UploadVR.

Lights, camera, action!

Jason

Multiple characters around a campfire as fireworks go off overhead

I've been enjoying the new Genshin Impact update alongside more FFXV. Just got past the Titan fight, and it has me wanting to run a D&D campaign in that setting. I also built a bunk bed, which isn't a game, but it took a few hours and it went well.

Lex

A ninja jumping over a firebreathing enemy while slicing an airborne foe

This week I am playing Ninja Gaiden Ragebound. AND, HEY THAT GAME FUCKING WHIPS. Especially as someone that didn't really like either Blasphemous game. But I am mainly taking this weekend to recover at another busy week.

If you missed it, I talked over the Nintendo Direct with Giant Bomb, cohosted Game Mess Morning that same day and discussed the AI bubble and The Big Short. I also wrote about video games getting more expensive even if CEOs are trying to hide it, and turned 25!

Battlefield 6 won’t be $80, but it Seems Like Other Countries Are Starting To Feel the Brunt of US Tariffs
Despite Andrew Wilson’s claim that Battlefield 6 won’t be $80, that doesn’t mean that video games aren’t getting more expensive for folks around the world.

Scott

Donkey Kong and Pauline heading towards a giant ostrich

I'll be playing my usual comfort food of WWE 2K25 and Donkey Kong Bananza, and I'll be playing Mario Party with some cretins. I'm also finally starting Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 so I can accurately argue against it in favour of Bananza when game of the year comes around.

In a Shocking Twist, WWE 2K25 Is Really Good on Switch 2
WWE has returned to Nintendo with WWE 2K25. And shockingly, it’s one of the best Switch 2 ports to date.
