We’ll (Probably) Get Ace Attorney 7 One of These Days

Capcom is hosting a presentation next week, and Ace Attorney's absence has me wondering about the next game.

Live on June 26 at 11pm BST, the next Capcom Spotlight unsurprisingly focuses on some big names across a 40 minute presentation with the "latest news" and developer interviews. Alongside its two major upcoming games, Pragmata and Resident Evil Requiem, this also promises updates on two previously released titles, Monster Hunter Wilds and Street Fighter 6.

While I'm interested in Resident Evil Requiem, I'm forever waiting on Capcom to announce that next Ace Attorney game. We've known since 2020's ransomware attack on Capcom that Ace Attorney 7 is (or was) in development, though its long absence has left fans wondering if it's still happening. After all, it's been eight years since The Great Ace Attorney 2 originally launched in Japan.

Personally, I don't think we should be concerned. As much as I'd love to see a brand new entry, it doesn't make sense that Capcom would port the entire series (Professor Layton vs. Phoenix Wright aside) to modern platforms if there wasn't a plan. That's especially true when you consider these compilations finally localised The Great Ace Attorney series and Ace Attorney Investigations 2. Honestly, that's more than enough for now.

Hopefully we'll learn something soon, though I'm not counting on a surprise reveal next week. Either way, I'll be watching and hoping.
