Trails beyond the Horizon Delayed Until January 2026; Now Coming To Switch 2

Trails beyond the Horizon has been delayed until early next year, and it's now confirmed for Switch 2.

The latest entry in the long-running action RPG series, Trails beyond the Horizon originally targeted a late 2025 release on PC, PlayStation and Switch, following last year's Japanese launch. However, publisher NIS America has announced that “to provide the best experience for all players regardless of platform, all platforms, including Nintendo Switch 2, are now scheduled to launch in January 2026.”

As someone who makes little secret of my love for Trails, I'm disappointed, but I'd be lying if I said this surprised me. That's because Trails in the Sky 1st Chapter, a remake of the first game published by GungHo Online Entertainment, launches this September. While a unified launch across all platforms is a sensible call, I'd speculate NIS America could also be giving Trails beyond the Horizon some breathing room.

Still, I'm excited to see how the third entry in the Calvard arc unfolds, following Trails through Daybreak and Trails through Daybreak II. The upcoming game brings Van Arkride and the Arkride Solutions team back once more as humanity makes its way to space for the first time, and they're joined by returning protagonists Rean Schwarzer and Father Kevin Graham.

I'll be sharing my thoughts when the time comes, and Trails beyond the Horizon arrives in January 2026 on PC, PS4, PS5, Switch and Switch 2.
