Sure, I'll Try Rust With Ducks Again on a Console

If you ever wanted to try Rust but with ducks, Duckside has you covered following this week's console launch.

Developed by tinyBuild Riga, Duckside is a persistent open-world survival game that includes producers from Hello Neighbor. It's a strange old world where humans and mallards have gone to war with each other, and you play as the latter group trying to survive while flying across the map and avoiding fellow ducks. Currently available on Steam Early Access, it's now on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S.

Playable solo or in co-op, this hostile open world lets you explore it through gliding, diving and more. Flying generally feels straightforward, and you'll need to arm yourself pretty quickly if you have any hope of surviving. You can also create a base across this land of different strengths, protecting you from hostile forces in these 50-person servers.

This may seem like an unusual game for me to cover, given my interests lie away from survival games. Still, Duckside is a game that's stuck with me since I previewed it for IGN last year, which is rammed with puns. It's such a strange premise, and I loved how unapologetic Duckside is about that, offering no explanation for why these mallards can suddenly wield guns and tools.

Duckside is available now on PC, Xbox Series, and PS5.
