Nintendo Celebrates Super Mario's 40th Anniversary With Galaxy Collection

Nintendo confirmed the next Super Mario film is based on Super Mario Galaxy, and it's re-releasing both games on Switch next month.

Announced during today's Nintendo Direct presentation, Shigeru Miyamoto revealed the news with a short teaser of Mario near Peach's Castle before shooting up to the stars. We also learned that Super Mario Galaxy 1 & 2 will launch on October 2, 2025, with new amiibo to follow on April 2, 2026. New storybook pages are also being added into the games alongside a physical book.

Nintendo is promising that both of these games feature "enhanced resolution, improved UI, Assist Mode," and more. However, it's unclear how much Super Mario Galaxy will differ from its previous re-release in the Super Mario 3D All-Stars collection that's long been delisted.
