Splatterbot Looks Like Splatoon With Roombas

Chaotic multiplayer game Splatterbot mixes Roombas with Splatoon, and it's out next week on Steam and Switch.

Supporting up to four players locally, it's hard not to think of Nintendo's hit series when you see the game in action. Instead of cleaning up messes like you'd expect from a vacuum cleaner, these machines have gone rogue and Splatterbot sees you competing to cover the most ground across these multiplayer stages. Whoever covers the most ground when the timer ends wins.

Each stage promises a series of “dynamic environments” that hope to keep gameplay interesting, featuring traps, walls you can bounce off, and other hazards. Various power-ups can also be found during gameplay, offering you perks like a speed boost or supersize to cover more ground.

Though Splatterbot announced its release date over two weeks ago, it's now got the unenviable task of launching on the same day as Hollow Knight: Silksong. Today's press release shows that unlike other games such as CloverPit or Aeterna Lucis, this hasn't been changed. Online multiplayer also isn't included, though Steam users can try Remote Play Together for this.

Splatterbot launches on September 4 for Switch and Steam.
