Rogue Eclipse Looks Like Modern Star Fox In Its Latest Trailer
Into the Maelstrom.

Rogue Eclipse, a spacefighter roguelike inspired by Star Fox, Armored Core and Arabesque Futurism, just released a new gameplay trailer.
Joining a wide line up of nearly 50 indie games during today's Six One Indie showcase, Rogue Eclipse comes from indie studio Huskrafts and takes place across an epic space opera. As a frontline pilot fighting for humanity's future in this intergalactic war, our goal is to fend off swarms of starfighters as we fight across the void's deepest reaches.
What's also caught my eye is Rogue Eclipse's mix of arcade gameplay in a roguelike structure, taking the "all-range mode" approach to space combat. Though death seemingly appears inevitable initially as you fight behemoths across destructible environments, all in service of defeating a merciless evil, your starfighter is upgradeable with various weapons and other personalisation options to select.
Personally speaking, it's a welcome sight in the absence of a new Star Fox game, a series that's been missing in action since 2016's Star Fox Zero. Sure, we can count Star Fox 2 finally getting an official release or the Starlink: Battle for Atlas crossover, but that's not the same and you know it. You don't often find games embracing Arabesque Futurism either, which is great to see.
Rogue Eclipse is heading to Steam, though a release date is currently unconfirmed. A demo will follow before the upcoming Steam Next Fest, too.
