Riddlewood Manor Mixes Whimsical Horror With a Puzzle Adventure

Riddlewood Manor aims to mix a point-and-click adventure with whimsical horror, and the demo recently launched on Steam.

Focused on the tragic tale of the titular family, Riddlewood Manor sees us on a mission to purify these haunted halls as we discover what happened to them, all while surviving against a demonic doll. Featuring 13 rooms filled with dangerous threats, each promises a series of spooky logic puzzles, ranging from more unusual ideas like using pig parts to create a breakfast to assembling a séance board.

Riddlewood Manor plays host to a series of characters as you purge malevolent spirits, and developer Peanut Button aims to provide a nostalgic experience reminiscent of amusement parks and Saturday morning cartoons. Truthfully, I'm just pleased the words "horror" and "cartoons" aren't followed by some cheap public domain adaptation. There are jump scares, though you can mitigate those with an optional warning system.

Peanut Button has previously established itself in VR gaming, most notably working on the adventure-mystery title The Secret of Retropolis and last year's direct sequel. While VR support for Quest is eventually planned for its next game, the studio informed Rewinder that it's focusing on a flatscreen PC launch first.

For now, Riddlewood Manor targets a 2025 release on Steam and the PC demo remains live.
