Letters of War Is a 2D Spiritual Successor to Valiant Hearts

Letters of War is an upcoming spiritual successor to Valiant Hearts launching this summer on Steam.

Based on a real story from WW2 about British carpenter Liam and his daughter Rosie, Letters of War is a 2D narrative adventure that swaps between their perspectives. Between Liam fighting across major battles across Normandy and Monte Cassino to Rosie's struggles at home as she finds comfort in her father's letters, it aims to deliver a story of love, courage, and loss.

It's the first independent project from Wood Cabin Games, who describe themselves as a small team based across Kazakhstan and the UK. What's particularly touching is how the studio states it’s using the game “to preserve a personal memory,” advising the story's inspiration comes from the lead developer's grandmother.

“Now 88, she became the starting point for the project — a way for her to see her father’s memory turned into something meaningful and lasting,” states the studio.

Letters of War arrives this summer on Steam.
