Our Top Reveals From Nintendo’s Indie World Showcase

Nintendo's latest Indie World Showcase revealed plenty of new games coming to Switch and Switch 2; here are the team's favourite announcements.

Announced days beforehand in typical Nintendo fashion, Indie World is the company's long-running presentation series focused on smaller games. Today's 15 minute showcase is no exception with various new trailers, and before you ask, nope, Hollow Knight Silksong didn't appear. It's at Gamescom this month, so we don't have that long to wait now.

Indie World contrasts with last week's Partner Showcase, which highlighted what's coming from larger third-party publishers. This had notable reveals like Monster Hunter Stories 3 and Once Upon A Katamari, new looks at Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment and Final Fantasy Tactics, fresh port announcements, and more. Presentation season is never truly over these days, folks; Pokémon Presents preceded that, while Opening Night Live returns in two weeks.

You can find the full presentation above but if you'd prefer some curated picks, here are Rewinder's top highlights from today's Indie World Showcase.

Henry

Neverway looks like the type of nightmarish twist on the life simulation genre that I can get behind. Fighting off untold horrors while running a farm and becoming the immortal herald of some deceased god? You've got my full attention, especially with those visuals. That's out next year on Switch and Steam.

Giving a brief shoutout to OPUS: Prism Peak. We still don't have a release date yet beyond “fall 2025”, but I know that one's gonna break me. Also to Demonschool, which wasn't in this presentation yet announced its release date around the same time. I won't claim to understand the reason there, but still.

Jason

As the one true roguelike expert, I'm obviously excited about Ball X Pit. Not only does it use the Hunter X Hunter naming system, but it's also a breakout roguelike with some Vampire Survivors vibes. It looks absolutely brilliant, and I'm certain it'll eat away at my life once I've got it in my hands. You can also read Henry's thoughts on it below.

Lex

After being shown at virtually every PAX for the last three years. Mina the Hollower, which previously confirmed a release date of October 31, is coming to both Switch and Switch 2. As someone who really liked Shovel Knight but arrived to it after Treasure Trove released, I kinda wished I could have gotten in on the ground floor of Yacht Club Games game.

What's more, I think I just really love the look and vibe of Gameboy Color games; I just don't enjoy the act of playing many of them. Combining that aesthetic with the gameplay of a classic Castlevania game? Yes please!

Honourable mention also has to go to UFO 50, which I loved when I played at SGF last year, but I never got around to it on PC. Now that I might have it on a more portable system, I am looking forward to putting some serious time into a smattering of the 50 games in that collection.
