HyperYuki: Snowboard Syndicate Mixes 1080° With Jet Set Radio
One of nine games revealed by Acclaim earlier today.

Acclaim hosted its first revival showcase today, and I'm already intrigued by HyperYuki: Snowboard Syndicate.
One of nine new games being published by Acclaim, HyperYuki: Snowboard Syndicate reminds me of 1080° Snowboarding if it had colourful cel-shaded visuals like Jet Set Radio. Joining the Snowboard Syndicate with various customizable characters, this supports solo play, online multiplayer for up to seven people, and splitscreen local play.
With the single-player options, HyperYuki features a Challenge Mode where you'll complete different objectives to achieve the highest score you can through rail riding, trinket collecting, and pulling off tricks. There's also a Race Mode where you can jump straight into matches with NPCs or other people, increasing your boost meter via tricks, and a Chill Mode to freely explore the tracks.
With all the recent noise and teases around Acclaim's revival, I'll admit I had no idea what to expect from its Play Acclaim Showcase earlier today. The original company's bankruptcy back in 2004 and while the new team aims to “resurrect and revitalize” its old portfolio, that's easier said than done given its assets were widely sold off.
However, we've known from the start is that the new leadership would be providing funding, marketing, and PC support for different indie studios. Publishing nine new indie games straight out of the gate is rather surprising, with other games including Tossdown, Ground Zero Hero, Basketball Classics, Pixel Washer, The Prisoning: Fletcher's Quest, GRIDbeat!, Talaka, and Katanaut.
HyperYuki: Snowboard Syndicate is coming to PC and consoles, though a release window is unconfirmed.
