In The Year Of Our Lord 2025, Gamera Is Finally Coming To GigaBash

Kaiju brawler GigaBash is introducing Gamera in next month's DLC, letting him finally fight Godzilla and Ultraman.

After briefly teasing this latest collaboration two weeks ago, GigaBash developers Passion Republic Games have revealed its next major DLC crossover features Gamera, often known as the Guardian of the Universe. Basing this on his appearance in the animated TV series, Gamera Rebirth, he's joined by “a vicious foe to do battle with,” though the specific villain is unconfirmed.

As a lifelong fan of kaiju films, one of the most exciting parts about this - beyond Gamera finally appearing in a new game - is the crossover fights this offers. GigaBash has a stacked roster of original characters, though it introduced Godzilla DLC followed shortly after launch with a second pack following last year. Two Ultraman packs have also arrived, so all we really need now is King Kong.

This isn't the first time we've seen Godzilla, Gamera, and Ultraman appear in one video game either, though not in a similar capacity to this. 2017's City Shrouded in Shadow is more of a survival game that never got a Western release, offering a spiritual successor to Disaster Report that also features characters from Patlabor and Neon Genesis Evangelion.

I reviewed GigaBash back three years ago for Push Square, and it's been great to see how far it's come since then. Though I didn't think there was much here for solo players, I considered it to be “a colourful new kaiju brawler” that's a great time with friends. I'll be coming back next month to see if that assessment still holds up.

GigaBash's Gamera Rebirth DLC is coming to PC and all major consoles on November 20.
