I Can’t Say I Expected Fire Emblem Meets Among Us But Here We Are
What else do you need me to say?

Fire Emblem meets Among Us and Gnosia feels like an unholy sentence to type, but that's exactly what free-to-play Fire Emblem Shadows on mobile sounds like.
Now available with no prior announcement before today, Fire Emblem Shadows is a new mobile exclusive spin-off that mixes real-time strategy and social deduction. With one of three allies joining you in each battle, one participating ally is secretly a treacherous disciple of shadow. Playing as either the traitor or a disciple of light, you must either avoid being discovered or uncover the villain by voting for your suspected candidate.

Look, I know Among Us didn't invent the idea of social deduction games. But you can't tell me you didn't think of it when reading that description, though I'm also reminded of Gnosia. As someone who gave up on Fire Emblem Heroes and has played most main entries, I didn't expect Nintendo to release another mobile spin-off. Especially not one of this nature.
This follows the recent Nintendo Direct announcement for Fire Emblem: Fortune's Weave, the next mainline entry for the tactical RPG series on Switch 2. We still don't know much about this upcoming game, though the goddess Sothis' appearance shows there's a clear link to 2019's Fire Emblem: Three Houses.
I'll try jumping on Fire Emblem Shadows in the coming days because this is such an unusual idea, I need to see it for myself. If you're similarly inclined, that's out now on iOS and Android as a free-to-play game with microtransactions.
