Murder Mystery, Multiplayer, and Horses? Equinox: Homecoming Promises It All

I've never witnessed a game mixing horseback riding, multiplayer and a murder mystery, but that's precisely what Equinox: Homecoming aims to achieve.

Out now in Steam Early Access, it's certainly a unique debut game from Blue Scarab Entertainment, a Stockholm-based team comprised of developers who worked on Battlefield, World of Warcraft, Helldivers 2 and more. Equinox: Homecoming lets you explore Alderwood Island with friends as you investigate the mystery of both your mother's disappearance and a local's sudden death.

As a murder mystery fan and occasional horse game enjoyer, it caught my attention and in early access, Equinox: Homecoming currently has the first chapter of the main story alongside “several” horse races. Other features include Riding Clubs - which are described as similar to 'Guilds' in fantasy-themed MMOs, a chat feature, groups, a friend system and more. Blue Scarab also states it aims for the game to be in early access “for about 12 months.”

Come full release, Blue Scarab plans to add new systems alongside expanding on old ones. This includes finishing Act One for the main story, more racing tracks and the ability to create your own, sharing them with friends. Social interaction updates like multiplayer events and emotes are also planned. As a live service game, new cosmetics, horse breeds and further story episodes are also planned.

Equinox: Homecoming is available now on Steam.
