Dear Me, I Was Is a Textless Adventure Coming To Switch 2

Dear Me, I Was is a textless adventure from Another Code and Hotel Dusk's art director heading to Switch 2.

Revealed during the Arc System Works showcase earlier this week, Dear Me, I Was sees you exploring the humble, ordinary life of a woman through joy, sorrow and growth. Using watercolour style visuals led by art director Taisuke Kanasaki, this upcoming narrative adventure focused on this woman's story and how her life interconnects with others.

Director Maho Taguchi revealed more during the presentation, with Taguchi stating the game's been "designed for adult women" and that the aim is to "help you feel a bit more positive after playing." Kanasaki continued on, advising the team used rotoscoping by filming live action footage first before tracing it with hand-drawn artwork.

Unsurprisingly given Kanasaki's previous work with the now defunct CING, Dear Me, I Was feels reminiscent of the former studio's older games. Kanasaki formerly worked on the Hotel Dusk series and Another Code before the studio's declared bankruptcy in 2010, later working on the latter's remake - Another Code: Recollection - last year on Switch.

That alone has my interest and while I didn't agree with every change Recollection made, I still have plenty of love for CING's older library. Though I dread to bring up my oldest work, one of my Nintendo Life reviews back in 2010 was Hotel Dusk's sequel, Last Window: The Secret of Cape West. It's a story I really should revisit one of these days, particularly before this new game arrives.

Dear Me, I Was is heading to Nintendo Switch 2 this summer.
