The Remake of the End of the Greatest RPG of All Time Is An Intriguing Puzzle Game
A TRotEotGRPGoAT, if you will.

I've seen some lengthy titles in the past, but The Remake of the End of the Greatest RPG of All Time takes the absolute cake.
As someone who's put an ungodly number of hours into RPGs in the past and recently completely Star Ocean: The Second Story R, it's perhaps no surprise that this recent Indie Informer stream caught my attention. I refuse to type the game's full name every single time, and I didn't expect to find that TRotEotGRPGoAT is essentially a puzzle game with an RPG dressing.
Taking the 2D-HD approach, developer Coin Drop Games is “remaking” a famous RPG that doesn't exist. It's a game inside a game, one where you'll still fight enemies using a full battle system and explore a fantasy world, only you're challenged to discover how you advance by logging off from your PC. Clues are hidden across this world between the digital manual, archival footage, and a director's commentary, which you'll need to cross-reference to figure out.
I've spent half an hour with the demo on Steam Deck, and it's so far delivering on this metafictional premise surprisingly well. I'm enjoying the sense of mystery so far that almost feels nostalgia, though I'd rather not detail too much here. Half the joy with puzzles comes from directly solving them yourself, after all. Still, there's an entertaining challenge, and I only hope the full game capitalizes on its potential.
TRotEotGRPGoAT doesn't have a confirmed release date yet, but the PC demo is live on Steam.
