Cowboy Bebop's PS2 Game Just Received an English Fan Translation

Cowboy Bebop: Tsuioku no Serenade, a Japan-only PS2 game based on the anime series, just received a full fan translation.

Released less than a day before the game's 20th anniversary, Cowboy Bebop: Tsuioku no Serenade has been given a “full 100%” English fan translation that covers the main text, visuals, credits, and more. Created by SONICMAN69 (spotted by Hilltop) and released on GitHub, you'll need a legitimate copy of the game for its ISO, and this is compatible with both original PS2 hardware or the PCSX2 emulator.

Like Cowboy Bebop? Did you know there was a PS2 game only released in Japan? Did you know I released a full English translation of it that you can play now? Check it out here: github.com/SONICMAN69/B...

Instead of adapting an existing episode, this follows an original story focused on the search for a space pirate's treasure, letting you play as Spike, Faye, and Jet, while Ed effectively acts as your support. Gameplay then unfolds across shooting segments, hand-to-hand moments and mixes in puzzle solving as you search for specific items.

It's a welcome surprise as while Cowboy Bebop was one of the first anime series I ever watched, this is the first time I've come across Tsuioku no Serenade. It's the second video game adaptation it received, following an also Japan-only PS1 game from 1998. Taking inspiration from Star Fox, that involves piloting Spike's Swordfish II as you chase down other ships before reaching a boss fight.
