Echoes of the End Looks Absolutely Brilliant

Echoes of the End had one heck of a debut trailer, and we're in.

Echoes of the End Looks Absolutely Brilliant

How's everyone doing after the last week or so of pure game reveals and hype? We're all reeling in various states given how much is shown at these things, but it's always good to take a little bit of time to think about some of the really cool trailers shown off. I'm pretty excited about Nioh 3 and a few others, but one of the most unexpected bits of excitement is Echoes of the End.

Echoes of the End is an upcoming action-adventure with an incredible vibe. It has you taking control of Ryn, a woman learning to control her magic as she tries to save her brother from a big old evil empire. There's a little bit more about the story on the Steam page, but I'm gonna leave it at that. In terms of the trailer itself, if you'll forgive the Britishism, cor blimey!

It's absolutely stunning to behold, and shows off not only a gorgeous world, but also some exceptionally fancy-looking abilities. The whole thing has a real Psi-Ops-meets-God-of-War vibe that I didn't realise I wanted. Maybe I just miss being younger and having fewer responsibilities? It's best not to dwell on that. There's one moment where Ryn psychic uppercuts some dude into the air before her companion uses a grappling hook to slam him into the ground, and that's it, that's what gaming's all about for me.

Also, and this is novel for any game really, Myrkur, the studio behind the game, has a YouTube channel which explains loads about how the game has come into existence and what's going on at the moment. It's a nice look behind the curtain in an industry that's altogether far too secretive. Any D&D YouTuber fans will also note that Daði from Mystic Arts is a key part of this game. It's always nice when two circles of your own personal Venn diagram overlap.

Echoes of the End is due out this year, and I'm extraordinarily excited to see if it can live up to its looks.
