Canvas City Looks Like XCOM Meets Jet Set Radio, So I'm Obviously Sold
Turn-based tactics RPG is heading to PC and Switch.

I am a simple man with three decades of nostalgia for games of yesteryear mixed with the constant existential dread of being an adult in 2025. So, naturally, things that remind me of other things can really help when it comes to selling me on new games. I know many of you are the same, which is why the headline is what it is for this Canvas City article.
Anyway, now that you've had that, let's talk about this incredibly cool-looking game.
Canvas City comes from a new studio called Disc 2 Games. It's being backed by the developer that made DREDGE, which is lovely to see. You control a crew of skaters and street artists who have taken fighting back against the people in power into their own hands, which means tearing up the street and doing some good art as well.
This would normally be a skating game, but instead, you'll control your group in XCOM-style fights. That means using rails, ramps, and whatever else your skates can touch to move around, and using a mix of tricks and attacks to rack up Style Points to use as you need to finish the job. The trailer does a far better job of showing this off than I can in writing, which is a skill issue on my part.
Canvas City looks intensely stylish, and has a lovely mix of music and just generally great vibes as well. You can equip your crew with different abilities, recruit new characters as you go, learn all about them, and eventually crush the regime in charge. I'm really excited to see how this one turns out, and hopefully, we get a release date for PC and Switch soon.
