Micromega Mixes Hand-Drawn Art With Physics Puzzles

Micromega aims to mix 2D physics-based puzzles with surrealist hand-drawn art.

Created by French developer Coven, Micromega sees the independent studio collaborating with acclaimed artist Mani to deliver a “unique aesthetic.” Using what's described as scale-shifting mechanics, you're tasked with exploring solutions across 30 different levels as you guide a “fragile Sphere” through this collapsing world, meeting creatures and unlocking new paths along the way.

Detailed further on its Steam page, Micromega's surrealist world sees the Sphere's path blocked by drifting debris that still clings onto life. “To clear the way forward, you must navigate this surreal landscape with keen observation and precise action. Every stage of this vertical-scrolling adventure is a delicate dance of physics and strategy, where peculiar creatures hold the key to the ascent,” states the studio.

Micromega marks the third title from Coven, who previously worked on two VR games. Masters of Light is an action focused wave shooter on Meta Quest and PlayStation VR2 that sees you defending the galaxy, while Fight Back is a shorter narrative experience aimed at "developing mental skills, confidence and muscle memory."

Micromega doesn't have a confirmed release date yet, but it's “coming soon” to Steam.
