It Ain't Goodbye
A change is as good as rest.
Heya folks,
Well, that was fun.
So first off, I (Lex) just want to say I am unbelievably proud of what we built with Rewinder in a very short time period. In less than a month, we got a killer-looking website up and running with zero outside funding, we had a small business that was breaking even day-to-day and looking forward had ways we could expand and grow, we were starting to get some freelancers on the site, and I genuinely think the quality the of our written work, podcasts, and livestreams were awesome.
But with all that in mind, some things have shifted around in the background. Obviously, Henry announced he was stepping away from Games Media. However, on a personal level, 2025 was one of the most physically and emotionally taxing years I have ever dealt with (and 2026 isn’t looking like it will be much better), so with that in mind, I decided for the sake of my own sanity and health that I too would be taking a step back from the day-to-day running of Rewinder.
That means a few things in turn. Basically, the site is going into low-power mode, with Jason and Scott juggling a lot of professional and personal responsibilities; we just couldn’t guarantee frequent content on the site, so we are pausing our Patreon (and cancelling direct subscriptions). For the handful of people who backed us with a yearly sub, we’ll be reaching out via the Discord to send you back the money you are owed for the extra months you subbed.
We will be continuing Be Kind, Rewinder. The podcast was my baby, and frankly, the four of us want an excuse to keep hanging out on the regular. The podcast will be changing to a monthly format though, to take some of the pressure off.
This isn’t goodbye, it's not even see you later. It’s we need some time to think.
We are paying to keep the site up and continuing a more casual version of the podcast, partly because we are damn proud of the brand we built and work on the site, and partly because, frankly, we don’t know what the future holds. There may well come a time when Rewinder 2.0 makes sense, but above all else, we are still good friends, and we like hanging out, we like our lovely little community and Discord, and we want to keep that going. So, to keep the spirit of the site going, we are opening up the Discord to everyone. Come say hi!
Until next time, be sure to check out and support some other great independent games media like: Into The Spine, DEEP HELL, Girl Mode Podcast, startmenu, Skybox, and Postmode, to name just a few.
But for now,
Yours faithfully,
Lex
